The production is phenomenal, the guitar tone and drums have the nicest sound, and the vocals are drenched in reverb which seems to mimic the atmosphere seen on the album cover. Night’s Blood, Where Dead Angels Lie, Thorns of Crimson Death, and every other song. This album is like if you took the absolute best of Death Metal and Black Metal and put them into the same genre, with beautiful acoustic interludes and just insane songwriting. Seriously, this is the best album I’ve ever listened to. Even though Ember has some of their most aggressive work and better songwriting on some songs (feed the wolf and red cold river) dear agony beats all their albums by far and consistently has remained one of my favorite albums of all time.ġ) Dissection - Storm of the Light’s Bane If BB did break up for good after Dear Agony and Ben just gave up, there wouldn’t be a better album to end a career with, in my opinion. And this album is the absolute peak of their career. From a technical standpoint, no, BB aren’t a better band than, say, Tool or dream theater, but I’d say they’re the best hard rock band that ever came out and were the most unique, definitely. The title track is arguably their best song. From the production, tone of the guitars and the bass, the phenomenal drumming from Chad, the vocals, and the overall songwriting and lyric writing, this is the best album they’ve produced and holds a special place in my heart. In my opinion their best album, none of their others come close. Really, most Death albums could take this spot but this is my favorite at the moment just because it was their last, and also, Judas Priest cover. Even with no lyrics, this song has more emotion than most popular songs with lyrics today. Every song on here is good, and one of their most famous tunes, Voice of the Soul, an acoustic (but not fully) instrumental track with extreme emotion, stands out among the rest. Arguably their most progressive sounding record but still retains that classic Death sound. Last album by the death metal pioneers and they went out with a bang. Bolt Thrower are great and so is this album. The opening riff to the title track (the first song on the album) is one of the best things I’ve had the pleasure of listening to from the metal genre, honestly. This is actually an album I found out about recently and it is an amazing album. They were heavenly influenced by this band as well as nirvana. When I heard it for the first time I never knew music could be so good. It was hard to know if I should pick 10,000 days or lateralus but I enjoy lateralus more as a whole. My top picks change a lot and will probably be different tomorrow lol.
